Luke Tucker from Stoke St Michael, Somerset, was born in 1991 and studied privately with Janet Whitteridge and Martin Gatt before being awarded a full scholarship to attend the Junior Department of the Royal College of Music in London, learning with Nicholas Hunka. During this time Luke was a member of the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain where he played Principal Bassoon in his final year.
In July 2013 Luke graduated as a scholar from the Royal College of Music with a First Class BMus (Hons) degree, after studying with Julie Price, Andrea de Flammineis and Joost Bosdijk, winning numerous prizes and competitions during his time there. Luke received a full scholarship to continue his studies at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama where he is currently on the Guildhall Artist Master's Programme, studying with Daniel Jemison, Miriam Gussek, Peter Whelan, Helen Simons and Amy Harman.
He is very kindly being supported by a Leverhulme Arts Scholarship, the Musician's Benevolent Fund, the Countess of Munster Musical Trust and EMI Music Sound Foundation. He is currently on trial for Principal Bassoon with the Orchestra of English National Opera and has also worked with the London Symphony Orchestra as well as performing in most of the country's concert halls including: the Royal Albert Hall, Royal Festival Hall, Cadogan Hall, Bridgewater Hall, Symphony Hall and the Sage Gateshead.
